North Shore Cricket Club
10th Anniversary Dinner
North Shore Cricket Club celebrated it 10th anniversary at the Mosman RSL Club on 15th November 2013 in front of Australian cricketer Mitchell Starc and former Test cricketer and funnyman Kerry "Skull" O'Keefe.
Club President Mark Lumley reminded everyone the club motto "cricket ability optional, sense of humour compulsory" was one of the underlying reasons for its continued success.
He highlighted the diversity within the club's players, with Shoremen coming from around the world, including non-traditional cricket-playing countries, like France and Japan.
"Everyone has contributed to the club winning an extraordinary 17 premierships in nine years," Lumley said.
O'Keefe entertained the audience with his reminiscences of his time as a Test cricketer in the 1970s, before a Starc stepped up for a question and answers session..
During the session the fast bowler faced a barrage of heckling from English fans, encouragement from Australian fans, and bemused indifference of the French and Japanese supporters, with good humour.
Staff from the club's insurer JLT donated back their raffle prize win - a bat signed by Adam Gilchrist.
The proceeds of the raffle were donated to the victims of the typhoon Haiyan.
